Wifi Adapter not working in windows 8 Ask Question Asked 11 years, 1 month ago Modified 7 years, 7 months ago Viewed 37k times 5 I have Dell Inspiron 15R N5010 with the Network Adaptor card as Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter Provider : Broadcom File version : 5.100.245.20 Driver Provider : Microsoft Digital Signer : Microsoft Windows The wifi adapter didn't even show up in the list of network adapters, only the bluetooth and ethernet showed up in the list. So I thought maybe I hadn't properly reseated the antenna connectors. Opened the laptop up again, disconnected and reconnected the cables again. go to device management, right-click on the network adapters node> Scan for hardware changes. Windows should automatically reinstall the wireless network adapter with the appropriate driver. Unplug the power cable for the router from the power source. Unplug the power cable for the modem from the power source. Some modems have a backup battery. If you unplug the modem and lights stay on, remove the battery from the modem. Wait at least 30 seconds or so. If you had to remove the battery from the modem, put it back in. In the Device Manager, double-click the "Network adapters" node, right-click your Wi-Fi driver and choose "Disable device." Wait for a few seconds, and then right-click your Wi-Fi driver again and choose "Enable device." Now, check if the Wi-Fi option appears. If not, continue with the guide. Ethernet Adapter works with Win 8, wireless adapter does not. Wireless adapter is a Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 802.11. No errors shown in Device Manager but Device Manager does not recognize the wireless adapter hardware. Would appreciate help with resolution. .
